Fingers Crossed

Since Aaron was about 2 years old, he has dreamed of being a fire fighter.  Since I have known him, he has dreamed of working for the Dallas FD.
Yesterday was a very big day for him.  He took the Dallas Civil Sevices test with about 1200 other guys.  As long as he passed (we will find out in about 10-15 days) he will move on to the physical agility test round.
I know he was anxious for this day to come as was I and his and my entire families.  I have heard MANY stories of young Aaron and his crazy insanely loud siren noises he would make as he stuck his head out of the window.  A few years ago, we went to New York for a few days.  While there, we found the NYFD Museum.  Talk about a kid in a candy shop :)

Please keep him in your prayers as he pursues his dream!

Fantasy World

So I have entered into a Fantasy World...kinda.  The world of Fantasy Baseball :)
My friend Stormey asked me if I wanted to be in an all girls league.  Immediately, I told her YES!  Our husbands generally do the fantasy thing so I figured that it would be fun to do this with some girl friends.
Our league consists of several of Aaron's McMurry baseball teammates wives/girlfriends and a few other girls.  I am so excited about our draft tonight!  Aaron spent a whole dinner telling me who I should pick and why certain people wouldn't be good to pick.  I am having a difficult time with this however, because some of the "better picks" are guys that I DON'T LIKE.  I don't want to pick someone that I don't want to actually root for (in real life).  I only wish my favorite player were still around for me to pick.  I would def. use my first round pick on him :)
Andy Pettitte, love him.
Here's to hoping that I get the hang of this :)
I'll keep you posted on how my team does!

Crazies

It's my favorite time in college sports....MARCH MADNESS!

Can you guess who I'm rooting for?  As if it were a surprise :)

Griffin is cheering for them too.
On a side note, I am SO excited to be wearing my Christmas present from Aaron finally!

GO DUKE!

Spring Training

Day two of our vacation was more of Aaron's day.  For Christmas, I gave him tickets to a Yankees spring training game.  I wish I could say it was great planning on my part to get tickets for our 6 month anniversary weekend, but really, it was just pure luck.  I had no idea back when I bought them that it was our anniversary.

Anyways, we woke up to another gorgeous day and headed out to their facilities.  Their field is right across the street from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stadium, so that was cool for Aaron to see as well.

I loved how small their ball park was.  It provided great opportunities for pictures and to actually meet the players.  This was the view we were greeted with as we came off the bridge.

the bullpen was right next to the bridge and you could look down into it

On the other side was another field where the majority of the team was taking batting practice.  We saw Nick Swisher signing autographs for about 15 minutes before heading in to change for the game.  We stopped by the pro shop and bought a few souvineers before heading to our seats.  Our seats were amazing!  We were right behind the Yankees dugout which provided for some awesome pics.

The Yankees ended up losing...but they played several minor league pitchers until the 6th inning when Mariano Rivera, one of the greatest closers of all time, came in to pitch for the first time this spring.  He did awesome!

After the game, we headed out to St. Petersburg for dinner with my uncle.  He took us to a great little Mexican restaurant and then we headed out to the beach to enjoy the sunset and some drinks.  It was a little chilly with the wind coming off the water, but it was BEAUTIFUL.

Till next time :)

Harry Potter

This past weekend Aaron and I went to Florida for our 6 month anniversary!  We had an AMAZING time and got to do a few very cool things.  Since the blog would be an extremely long one if I tried to tell you about all of it at once, I will just cover day one in this post :)

Our trip started off on Friday evening with his mom taking us to DFW for our flight.  Before we got on our way however, Aaron realized he had left his wedding band at work.  NICE.  Really made me feel like he was excited about our anniversary....we made a quick stop to get it and all was better.  Our flight was easy and I actually got to see the end of the Duke game at the airport before we left!  We landed in Tampa at about 12:30 and my uncle picked us up and took us to a little bar/restaurant before heading home.

Saturday morning couldn't come soon enough for me.  I woke up really excited about what the day had in store for us.  We had breakfast and then dropped my uncle off at his friends house since he was kind enough to lend us his car so we didn't have to get a rental to drive to Orlando.  After that, we got on the road.  It was absolutely GORGEOUS weather the whole time we were there.  We pulled in to Universal Studios and I could barely contain my excitement.  I am pretty sure Aaron laughed at me and called me a dork about 100 times that day, but I don't care.  I had an awesome time and I know think he did too :)

Here are a few pics from our day at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
At the entrance to Hogsmeade Village
In front of Hogwarts Castle
Enjoying some butterbeer
These are just a few of the MANY pictures that we took.  If you are intrested in seeing the rest, check out my facebook!

Universal Studios did a FANTASTIC job on creating this part of the theme park.  The attention to detail did not disappoint.  The lines were crazy long for just about everything there.  We waited about 15 min. to get our butterbeers (Aaron got a frozen slush version and I got the liquid).  We rode the best ride I think I have ever ridden, The Forbidden Journey.  When we got there, the wait for this ride was 110 min (they have a little clock that shows you how long the wait is for each ride by the entrance).  We were going to go to a different ride but decided to get our drinks first.  After we got our drinks, the wait was down to 70 min so we decided to do it.  The wait didn't even seem that long though because half of it was spent walking through the castle and seeing all the many things inside there.  Some of the highlights were the talking pictures, the entrance to Dumbledore's office and the Pensieve.  While in the greenhouse portion of the line, Aaron got to do some quality people watching.  He got a few good pics on his camera phone :)

After the ride, we got to shop in Filch's Emporium and I got a few keepsakes :)  Hogsmeade Village was absolutely amazing.  Again, the attention to detail was perfect.  Even the snow on the rooftops looked real.  The lines to go into the wand shop were about an hour long as were the lines for Zonko's Joke shop and Honeydukes Candy Shop.  I didn't make Aaron wait through those, but I did get some good pics of the outside.
I would DEFINITLEY recommend going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to anyone who is a fan of the books.  I am so glad that Aaron and I had the chance to go there and see everything I have read about for years.

All in a Weekends Fun

This weekend we went to College Station for one of Aaron's best friends weddings.  It was a beautiful wedding and we had a lot of fun.  Another bonus to going to C.S. is that my brother lives there.  I miss hanging out with him so I always enjoy our time together.  He was so sweet and gave up his bed so that Aaron and I could stay with him and he slept on the couch.  In return, I did about 5 loads of laundry for him :)  Wash, dry, fold, put away.  I was also in an organizing mood, so I rearranged his closet for him (shirts all color coordinated) and made more storage space for him so that his room wouldn't be so cluttered.  I messed up and didn't take any pictures though...you would have been impressed :)

Saturday, most of Aaron's time was occupied with wedding stuff so Daniel and I had a chance to go pick up some stuff for him.  His apartment comes furnished which means that he has a HARD matress.  We picked him up an egg crate and a new pillow because his are all paper thin.  During our day together, he told me about how his work is going and I couldn't help but be so proud of him!  He has grown up so much and become such a hard working, intelligent young man.  I guess it surprised me a little because to me, he will always be my little brother.  It's strange to think of him working and in charge of so much stuff!  He even drove me out and showed me his company and told me all about the things they make there (I understood most some of it).

Needless to say, it was a good trip and we all had a very good time.  Here are some pics from our weekend :)

Me and Daniel

On Sunday before we left, Daniel took us to Shipley's for breakfast.  For those of you who don't know, Shipley's is my favorite donut place for several reasons.  I do love their donuts, but besides that, my Grandpa used to meet his buddies there for coffee quite often.  He would take me sometimes and I remeber him using this Shipley's mug because he could get coffee in it for about 5 cents a cup.  Well, at the Shipley's today, they had this same mug that I remember for sale.  I decided I had to have it.  I don't drink coffee, but I figured Aaron could use it for his or I could use it for hot chocolate :)  Here it is!

I hope all of you enjoyed your weekend as well.  Only one more week until Spring Break which means a trip to Florida for us and my parents coming to visit!  Until next time :)

getting dumber

Aaron has been obsessed with Jersey Shore since the show started.  I would never watch such filth :)  He has however watched many Grey's Anantomy episodes with me so I felt it was only fair to sit and watch his show with him.
Big mistake.
I swear, I'm getting dumber watching this show.  I really don't understand how these crazies have turned this trainwreck of a show into actual money making careers.  Kinda Really makes me sick to my stomach.  Glad I went through 4 years of college and work hard every day to make not even close to what they make for drinking and being gross.  VOMIT.

Anyways, I am SO glad that tomorrow is Friday!  I get to see my little younger brother this weekend!  I hope everyone enjoys their time off :)

All Alone

So, once a week I find myself alone at home because Aaron is at the fire station.  I miss him and I don't like sleeping alone, BUT I will admit that it is nice to come home and eat cereal for dinner, get in bed at about 6:00 and watch what I want on t.v.  Tonight has consisted of NCIS (a new obsession that Aaron is not happy about), Modern Family (my fav) and the Duke basketball game.  Perfect night :)

Good thing I have this guy around to protect me when Aaron is gone!
I feel so safe.

L.O.V.E.

I love Love.  I love being in love, seeing others in love, watching lovey dovey movies, listening to songs about love.  And what is a better example of love than weddings!
This past weekend, Aaron and I had the honor of being in two of our best friends wedding :)  Stormey and Gerad had a beautiful (and funny) wedding in Abilene on Saturday.  It was a blast to see so many old friends and celebrate with all of them.

It started out Friday night with the rehearsal and dinner that followed.  I was very excited to find out at the church on Friday that Aaron and I would be walking together during the ceremony...just a few months back we walked down the aisle together in our own wedding!  Oh the memories :)  Here is a pic from the rehearsal dinner...well after the dinner.

On Saturday, we spent the morning visiting with my wonderful family in Abilene.  We had La Popular breakfast burritos...YUM.  Then I got to the church at 11 to start getting ready with all the girls.  We had a great time pampering ourselves and hanging out.  The wedding was beautiful as was the reception.  Here are some pics from that.

Looking good at the reception :)

Roomies!

The weekend was so much fun.  I wish we could do it every weekend.

Oh wait, we are doing it all over again this weekend!  Aaron is in one of his best friends weddings down in College Station so we will be headed down there on Friday for another weekend full of love :)

Till next time....
